There are so many metaphors that come to mind. The lone tree in the middle is just that, alone. I also think of older siblings, wallflower, introvert, or lost in a crowd. Each time I view the photo, I try to think of other meanings and sometimes I take it for nothing more than its aesthetics. No matter my interpretation, it is the relationship between the larger trees in the foreground and the small tree in the background.
